Brown's Summer Party
The Browns summer party will be on Saturday the 9th June. This year, we will be celebrating the noth birthday of Margot, as well as repeat birthdays for Leo, Malcolm, Julia, and Zoe, and of course Margot will be there. I hope to see the usual suspects for drinks and hugs.
Don't forget it's Mummy Katell's birthday on the 4th June!

Wildlife expeditions
After a lovely nap for the whole family, we set out again to visit the Sheffield botanical gardens, which was pretty much deserted at 6pm, but in full bloom and looking very prim. A highlight of the gardens is the bear pit, which we visited despite the risk of mauling.
It's Margot's 1 week birthday today - hooray!

The incredible shrinking baby
The midwife visited today to weigh Margot. It seems she has shrunk - from 3.38 Kg to 3.06 Kg (7 lb 6 oz to 6 lb 12 oz). Let's hope this doesn't continue! On a plus note, she is now feeding well, and even lets us sleep a bit at night.
Fun fact #1: It seems that funny smell I always thought was some kind of baby soap is in fact the smell of baby poo.
p.s. in case anyone worries - weight loss in the first couple of weeks is perfectly normal.

Adventures
After a troubled night, Mum and Dad were tired but happy to have granddad Malcolm, Auntie Zoe, and great granny Stella drop in to see baby Margot. Lots of cuddling ensued, and Margot had her first trip to a restaurant - in which she was Very Good (i.e. asleep).
Building on this success, Dad and Auntie took her on a veritable exepdition to the holy land of Meadow-hall, where she enjoyed the attentions of various middle aged passers by, and a quick dinner in M&S. Mum stayed home for a well deserved nap.

Margot returned to the wild
Katell and Margot have been given a clean bill of health, and at about 7pm were released from the Hospital. I whizzed home and then returned only to stand outside the hospital for 15 minutes trying to assemble our new pushchair.
It's lovely to get home and be a bit in control. It also means getting to unwrap all the baby gadgets we've been accumulating over the past 9 months! And find out we can't use them because some other item must be purchased first.
Margot is still a little confused about where food comes from, so Katell is having to 'express', which is not so good, but it does mean that I get to play a part in dinnertime.

Do not adjust your sets
It's Wednesday, La Grenouille (Margot) is 1 day old, and she and her mum are still in hospital.
It turns out she's a little bit too yellow, and they might have to add some blue to compensate. I expect NHS chromatricians are working on the problem as we speak. Until we know, the girls get to stay in the lovely hospital, and Dad gets to go home and enjoy a full night of (lonely) sleep, until his return the following morning bearing croissant and pain-au-chocolat.
Here's what I saw when I got there:

Happy 0th Birthday
Dad here! I'd like to wish Margot Florence Madeleine Brown a very happy 0th birthday.
She was born to Katell and Alex (me) today - the 22nd of May 2007, at 4.55pm, weighing 3.352 Kilos (7 lb 6 oz) and approx 47 cm long (18"1/2). She has a lovely head of black hair, curled at the nape, grey blue eyes, and a cute round face.
She was 2 days late, and took about 19 hours to squish out, eventually coming out with the help of a couple of medical spoons. She didn't mind, though.
The whole family are happy and healthy and ready for some fun and excitement.
