Proud bilingual parents

We went for a walk in the hills with Nadia, FX, Emmanuelle and PA today, and afterwards at the Fox House Papa offered Margot one of his dumplings. After she said "Margot like a dunklings" she then turned to Maman and said "how do you say dunklings en Français?". "Beignet" said Maman, and Margot then explained that "en Anglais, c'est dunklings."

All weekend Margot has been super-extra-hyperactive, and in any given 5 minute period will want to go upstairs, downstairs, go in the car, fall off something, demand that something be explained and ask ask the same question 8 times. Maman and Papa are quite tired.

Winter Walk in the Forest

Margot went for a walk in Longshaw Estate with Edwin, his Mum and Dad, as well as 1 year Roìsìn and her Mum. It was crisp and bright, with lots of lovely puddles to jump in.

Edwin's Dad Aidan has to carry Edwin on his back, just like Margot with her Papa. Until they want to get down, then up again.

Each time the kids get down to 'walk' a bit, they find something interesting to do with sticks.

Edwin and Margot Hoggard-Brown - one day.

I don't remember whether spinning 25 kilos of wriggly child a good idea even if you didn't just have a baby.

Margot and Edwin make their escape.

Riding on a sheep.

Cécile's Summer Party

Everyone off to Geneva to see the Cousins, then on to Thonon for Cécile's summer party. For the first time, Maman and Papa managed to spend an entire happy morning without seeing Margot once–she was whisked off by Pierre and Alice, who even took her to the loo by themselves!

Margot soaking up the arty atmosphere.

Alice and Europe, being their mothers.

Margot getting a story from the girls–Alice, Rose, Europe.

No, she hasn't been arrested, it's a Petit Bateau shop. Papa feels like he paid some sort of a fine, though.

Everyone. Papa seems to be reading a new scientist for some reason?

Whirlow Farm

After last week's glorious sunshine, we are back to British summer weather. But rain or not we would go mad if we didn't get out of the house, so we went to the open day at Whirlow Hall Farm.

It's a working farm, we saw piglets and sheep and horses as well as lots of noisy chickens. We got to watch a sheep getting "hair cut sheep".

Margot was scared of the horses, as usual.

Update: After we got home, Margot then spent a lot of time telling us about it (as is her habit these days). "What boy doing, Maman Cochon, Papa stroke sheep, Baby Lamb, Tiger boy, etc" This is entertaining, impressive, and sometimes a little confusing when she uses a word I don't understand.

Tiger boy was a reference to the face painting that was going on. Margot was not allowed.

Endcliffe Swings

Every weekend, Margot has to take Maman and Papa out for a walk, because staying in the house all day makes them cranky and unreasonable.

SwimmingShe was delighted to find that the new Endcliffe Park Swings have finally opened, which gave her something to do while they enjoyed themselves. She suspects that Papa wanted to go on the excellent climbing frames, but sadly he was too big, and Margot was too small.
